This down home soul food restaurant, Soul Fixins, will satisfy your Southern cravings any day. Since 1992, New York’s multi-award winning Berry Brothers have been perfecting and creating exciting soul food cuisine. Their restaurant can boast of repeated “Best of the Best” Awards, a loyal and growing following and lavish praise from local, regional and national food writers. The reasons for this are the freshness of both the ingredients and their thinking.
The food is simple but delicious. As you enter the restaurant, wafts of home cooking fill the air; the smells of fried chicken, BBQ spare ribs, shrimp scampi and meatloaf float to your nose. But the wonderful smells don’t even compare to the unreal flavors of this Southern cuisine once you sit down to take a bite. Perhaps the most surprising delights are the side dishes and vegetables. The plantains, the mac and cheese and the collard greens are even better than you would imagine. And for those of you looking for lighter fare, there is corn, string beans, tossed salad and mixed veggies.
Order from Soul Fixins today and enjoy a down home meal at a down home price.
Smothered Chicken
Meatloaf

The food is good for what it is (not REAL soul food) but the delivery is HORRIBLE! I'm officially done with this place. It'll take you 2 hrs to get your food. They call back 30 mins later to tell you they don't have something or the delivery man hasn't shown up for work yet!

They did not have what I ordered from the menu.

The food here is authentic southern food. If you are expecting something like Hill Country, you will be disappointed. That is not southern barbecue. Soul Fixins is southern barbecue.

The Worst fried chicken I ever had and they didnt even have the part of the chicken I wanted. They ended up sending one grilled and one fried chicken. Food was so bad I didnt even want to eat the cornbread...

Asian owned and operated, which would have been just fine except the food totally tasted like it. The vegetables were canned, the mashed potatoes were instant, the meal was wretched. I'm not particular or picky, but as someone who was raised in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, I can promise you that this is about as far away from country cooking as it gets. The only saving grace was the mac and cheese, and even that was cooked so long that you could have poured it through a screen door.

Poor delivery service. Took one hour and 20 minutes. Lukewarm, but decent food. Please inform delivery men to call when they arrive

Not very good. By the time the food was delivered, the fried chicken was soggy. Mac and cheese lacked flavor the the green beans were overly smoky. Also they forgot my cornbread.

The food here had absolutely no taste whatsoever, I had the oxtails, mac and cheese, and greens. Horrible just horrible. My co-worker had the fish, corn, and plantains and she refused to finish it!!

I ordered fried catfish, collard greens, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I received - breadcrumbed and baked catfish that taste like a horrible fish stick - soured tarter sauce that had turned into separated vinegar and yellowish oil - canned collard greens that were so vinegary I had to have my trash removed from my office cause the smell was overwhelming - box mashed potatoes and a side of canned chicken gravey. - cornbread that taste like a piece of yellow cake that was cooked too long. I can not believe how horrible this experience was and how poor the food was. Who are all these people giving them good ratings? employees? the food was horrible. I am from Ohio and I could have made a better meal.

Beyond dissapointing. I disregarded all the negative reviews and decided to give it a try. The fried chicken was thrown in a deep fryer with the skin on; wasn't even breaded. It looked and tasted like roasted chicken (if it wasn't for the abundance of grease and crispy skin, I would have thought they sent the wrong item.) The macaroni and cheese was bland and salty and the mixed vegetables were soggy (obviously frozen.) I ordered a corn bread, but a stale dinner roll came instead. I should have gone with Dallas BBQ, where you can never go wrong. Needless to say I won't ever be ordering from here again and neither should anyone else. If only Daisy Mae's was part of SeamlessWeb....sigh.

Good soul food for the location and price

Cold!!!!!! Not very good at all. Fried Chicken was cold and soggy. Green beans had no taste. Mac and cheese was just nasty. I asked for a roll, and was sent corn bread instead that was cold and tasteless. The best thing was the potato salad that I couldn't eat because I was so unhappy with everything else. Will not be ordering from here again. No Soul in those Fixins at all.

I'm glad I wasn't swayed by all the negative reviews here...my experience today was great. Food arrived after 35 minutes, nice and hot. The fried chicken, mac and cheese and green beans were exactly what I was craving...no complaints except that I'm experiencing massive food coma from eating every bite.

The spices they use are overpowering, this taste nothing like southern style soul food as I was expecting. The chicken and dumplings didn't have enough dumplings. After hundreds of orders on Seamless this was honestly the worst food I've ever had the displeasure of spending $30 on.

Terrible food, Terribly late, Terribly rude.. Avoid eating here at all costs. You'll find no fixing of souls occurring at this joint. My food was an hour late, looked like it had been slopped in a serving platter by a public school canteen officer / janitor and was thoroughly disappointing to consume. Seamless should have a return policy for allowing the garbage that's served by this place on their website. To top it off, i had the manager of the store yelling at ME because he couldn't find his delivery guy. SELL.

Good, honest to goodness food. Updated Review: Whilst Soul Fixins still maintains its homestyle cooking, sadly the portions have become bigger and the quality has deminished. Last two occaisions we've ordered from Soul Fixins the food was heavy, greasy and cold. Sadly that may be our last from this restaurant but that's the beauty of NYC - there's so much alternative choice.

I never write reviews but this was so horrible I had to say something. It took me 90 minutes to get my food and I live within a 10 minute walk from this place. The food was obviously cold and when I called to tell them the situation the person on the phone hung up on me. I'll never order from this establishment again.

Food was late, arrived cold and the container was smashed, spilling the ocra sauce all over the inside.

order was over an hour late but food was good.

The food is solid (especially the meatloaf), but delivery has taken over an hour past the window (and then shown up incorrect). It's good, just not worth the hassle.

Way to salty and not all that tasty...

It is hard to find good soul food in midtown, but Soul Fixins has you covered. The massive portions and wide variety of offerings make this place a natural choice when you crave some comfort food.

the food was below ok. this place should not have soul anywhere in the title the portions were anorexic, especially for how much it cost. I ordered two plates, they sent one set of plastic ware, and 1 piece of cornbread. the food is already prepared, but it took over 40 min to come 7 blocks. The collard greens were terrible, the macaroni and cheese was neon orange, and they only give you one piece of chicken. do not waste your time

None of the vegetables were fresh- the green beans were obviously from a can and the okra and greens were mushy like they were frozen not fresh. The mac and cheese and yams were bland as was the catfish. A very disappointing meal.
